Rob Humfeld

Chief Technical Officer

Rob has been using LabVIEW since 1991, working full-time as a system integrator and software architect with NI Alliance Member companies his entire career. Rob was one of the first developers in the world to be recognized by National Instruments as a Certified LabVIEW Architect, and is currently one of the very few people in the world to hold that certification in combination with the Certified TestStand Architect certification. He has been invited to present at National Instruments’ worldwide conference on measurement and automation a number of times over the years on such topics as good user interface design and software engineering practices. He has trained many LabVIEW programmers, including seven Certified LabVIEW Architects and many Certified LabVIEW Developers.

Rob has at some point worked in almost every major technology area related to NI products: LabVIEW, TestStand, NI VeriStand, LabVIEW RT, LabVIEW FPGA, RIO, DAQ, Motion Control, Serial/GPIB, Vision, etc. He has designed, implemented, and successfully integrated software for a wide range of projects in fields including telecom, material testing, medical devices, machine control, instrumentation testing, automated production, and HIL simulation. If you meet him, ask him about one of these cool projects: Flight Data Processor, Automated Welding Control System, Robotic “Stealth” Test System, Heart Valve Endurance Tester, Earth-Moving Robot, Railroad DAQ, Bio-reactor Control System, or Ocular Surgery System Validation.

Steve Brooks

Engineering Manager

Steve has been a LabVIEW developer since 1994 achieving Certified LabVIEW Architect in 2008.  Steve is a Certified Professional Instructor able to teach all of NI’s course curriculums as well as providing any specialty or custom courses needed.  Steve has been on beta teams for NI’s LabVIEW, TestStand and VeriStand products for more than 8 years and is one of 24 people to attend an advanced VeriStand Integrator’s course at NI’s headquarters in Austin TX.  Steve has been a systems integrator since 2007 using National Instruments (NI) software and hardware tools.  As a team lead and principal engineer he worked on projects including avionics validation and verification, Hardware in the Loop (HIL) for agriculture design groups, automated production test, motion and vision applications and many more.

Before becoming a systems integrator Steve was the Test Engineering Lead for Baldor Motors & Drives Engineering.  He was responsible for all production tests from board level ICT (in-circuit test) through final system tests.  He worked tightly with engineering and manufacturing to deliver complete product test coverage as well as tying into business management software (SAP) for quality processes.  At Baldor Steve worked with engineering to design, develop and improve R&D testing methods for quicker product design.  Steve worked for Liebert Corporation (now Emerson Network Power) as a test engineer focusing on board level functional test and final system test.  Steve served 11 years in the US Air Force mostly as an electronics craftsman working in several test squadrons.
